Summer Trip to Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Kyoto

Japan 2024 was so awesome. No guns, litter, crazy drug addicts. Japanese are so civil. Coming back to the US felt like lowering the bar in quality of life.

This summer, I embarked on an unforgettable journey through Japan, exploring the vibrant cities of Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Kyoto.

Tokyo: My adventure began in Tokyo, a city that perfectly blends the ultramodern with the traditional. I wandered through the bustling streets of Shibuya, marveled at the neon lights of Shinjuku, and found tranquility in the serene gardens of the Imperial Palace. The contrast between the towering skyscrapers and the historic temples was truly mesmerizing.

Kanazawa: Next, I traveled to Kanazawa via the Hokuriku Shinkansen. This city is a hidden gem, known for its well-preserved Edo-period districts, art museums, and beautiful gardens. I spent a day exploring Kenroku-en, one of Japan’s most famous gardens, and visited the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. The blend of history and modernity in Kanazawa was captivating.

Kyoto: My final stop was Kyoto, a city steeped in history and culture. I visited the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine with its thousands of red torii gates, strolled through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and admired the golden pavilion at Kinkaku-ji. Kyoto’s temples, shrines, and traditional tea houses offered a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

This trip was a perfect blend of urban excitement, historical exploration, and natural beauty. I can’t wait to return and discover even more of what Japan has to offer.
